Bathgate Thistle 1-0 Greenock Juniors
Scottish Cup 4th rnd
Greenock went out of the Scottish Cup at the 4th round stage against East Premier cracks Bathgate Thistle. On a blustery day a crowd of about 200 didn't get much of a spectacle as both sides cancelled each other out for the main part of the game. Kenny Meechan starting his first game back with Greenock was called into action 20 minutes in when a cross was missed by the greenock defence and Meechan reacted sharply to palm round the post. The opener which proved to be the winner arrived 30 minutes in when a corner from the left was met by the head of Bathgate's McKinnon from 15 yards.
Half-time 1 - 0
With the wind at Greenock's back they ejoyed the majority of possesion but failed to test the Bathgate keeper. Alan Mcintyre came closest to getting something for the visitors with 2 right footed snpshots that went narrowly wide. Bathgate were hitting Greenock on the counter attack but were getting no change out of the Greenock back 3 who had the Bathgate strikers under control. With time running out Greenock threw everything at Bathgate but could not test the keeper and Bathgates backline coped comfortably with anything Greenock could throw at them. Now Greenock return to league business and the fight to get promotion.
